The Women’s Federation for World Peace (WFWP) Maryland Chapter, Latino Chapter, and DC and Washington, DC Chapters had the honor of attending a gala hosted by the women’s organization El Poder de Ser Mujer, celebrating its 10th anniversary.

Last year, the organization’s founder, Sagrario Ortiz, was recognized with the “Her Story Award” for her impactful work within the Latino community. This year, we were delighted to join her anniversary gala and congratulate her by presenting a beautifully engraved crystal award in recognition of her ten years of dedication to empowering women and making a meaningful difference.

The award was presented by Concha Marchitelli, Chairwoman of the Latino Chapter, alongside Andrea Rissanen representing the Maryland Chapter, and Elizabeth Ahi, Chairwoman of the Washington, DC Chapter.

In addition, ten more WFWP members attended the gala, enjoying an evening filled with networking, cultural exchange, food tasting, and dancing. The event provided a wonderful opportunity to connect with community leaders and celebrate shared values.

As part of the celebration, we also presented Sagrario with a thoughtfully curated lavender care basket, adding a personal and heartfelt touch to an already inspiring evening. It was truly meaningful to witness one women’s organization honoring another for its outstanding contributions.

During the program, Sagrario shared her personal journey, speaking deeply about her faith in God and how it guided her to persevere and establish the organization—even during moments of doubt. Her testimony reminded us that this recognition was not only from WFWP, but also a reflection of God’s work through her life—honoring her faith, resilience, and willingness to answer a higher calling.

This event strongly aligned with WFWP’s mission to uplift and celebrate the unique and essential value of the feminine aspect of God, and to support women who are making a transformative impact in their communities.
