Throughout this last quarter, HerTribe groups around the country continued to hold gatherings despite busy summer schedules, creating loving spaces where women could share, grow and feel renewed in sacred bonds of sisterhood. Thanks to your generous contributions, a total of 21 HerTribe meetups occurred between July and September, serving and empowering 246 women. Read below for some of the inspiring highlights from this past quarter, and check out our slideshow video of gatherings this quarter down below:

Major Themes

This quarter explored three major themes in the HerTribe curriculum, with content grounded in the peace philosophy of Women’s Federation founder, Dr. Hak Ja Han (Mother Han). The theme titles featured were, “The Radiance of God’s Love” (July), “Following Your Heart” (August), and “Act Now for Peace”(September). HerTribe hosts did their best to convey the essence around each theme, accommodating their members and first-timers.

In Ohio, HerTribe host, Fatou Sarr, made it a point to translate Mother Han’s quotes and the accompanying discussion questions into Japanese, since many of the women in her group identify with the language and culture of Japan. She found that in doing this simple act, her members could engage with the content more fully, resulting in more meaningful and heartfelt discussions among participants. Here is a reflection from a participant of Fatou’s HerTribe gathering: “I'm grateful for the time I shared with my sisters. I've reconnected with our church sisters, relating to them as family. Attending Sunday services isn't enough to forge lasting connections. [And I feel bad for being so busy. Nevertheless], it's essential to convey my heartfelt sentiments as we did today. Thank you for this opportunity.” - Miyuki, OH HerTribe member

Innovative Activities

Every month, along with a specific theme and related readings, the women in a HerTribe gathering will often conduct an activity which helps to cement the abstract ideas from the topic and discussion. Our HerTribe hosts have been quite creative in their approach to activities, and HerTribe members have been excited to engage in some of the following projects this quarter:

  • Canvas painting

  • Zen tangle meditation

  • Planting herbs

  • Meeting outside in nature with a picnic lunch

  • Toasting with mocktails

  • Crafting homemade pumpkin spice lattes and apple pies in a mug

  • Assembling freezer meals to share with other women in need

The Indiana HerTribe group planted herbs, which inspired a powerful metaphor for personal growth: “Everyone had a good time exploring good combinations of herbs to pot together and naming their pots as well. This then flowed into the discussion based on the readings…the correlation between connectedness and a sense of happiness and peace vs disconnectedness and a sense of unhappiness and unease, and the symbolism of soil, the earth and grounding, reconnecting to Heavenly Parent through that grounding.” - Grace, IN HerTribe Host

Firsts

Our HerTribe groups have also been incredibly innovative in the ways they’ve organized their gatherings to meet specific needs within their communities.

In California, HerTribe host, Myrna Lapres, collaborated with a number of women within and outside of her group to host a “Tea of Intention- Where Women Thrive and Connect with our Heavenly Femininity” event in September.  Myrna shares, “Our goal for the program was for all attendees to find renewal, sisterhood, and connection to our true selves, to Heavenly Parent and [Mother Han’s vision for true womanhood].” Following an introduction and some personal testimonies, “Everyone was guided to go inward, letting go of anything that doesn’t serve us, and connecting with Heavenly Mother and our own self-acceptance, love, validation, and divinity. Then, with beautiful background music, we were invited to paint a representation of our inner heavenly femininity.”

In Hawaii, both the Aloha and Leeward chapters sought to create events that were relevant and meaningful for the communities they served. In July, the Aloha HerTribe met at Waikiki Beach to conduct a family- friendly gathering on water safety. A number of parents with their young children came out to participate, citing that for many, this was their child’s first time in the ocean. The Leeward HerTribe focused on creating a HerTribe event around health and wellness, utilizing breathwork activities. Members of the group went out after the meeting to walk along the beach and watch the sunset. Everyone was so inspired that the evening continued further with more discussion around health, the use of an inversion table, offered by the Harding’s (who hosted) and even shiatsu massage!

In Virginia, Tsurue Takeshima hosted a first time “Sisters’ Night” event, inviting women to take time away from their busy schedules for an evening of sharing, encouragement, and yoga. As part of the August theme on following your heart and intuition, Tsurue came up with a creative heart opening activity she dubbed “God’s Whisper” in which participants wrote down their worries and struggles on one side of a heart-shaped paper, and then passed them around so the other women could write loving words in a way the God might be responding and encouraging them through their struggle.

In September, the Dallas Women’s Fed chapter hosted a One-Day Awaken Retreat, in which 31 women were able to participate. For many, this was a much needed break from constant family responsibilities and a reminder of the power of sisterhood. A more detailed report on the transformative retreat can be found here

This quarter also brought forth a renewed commitment to HerTribe Host Calls. The purpose of the calls, which will now take place once per quarter, is to provide an opportunity for HerTribe hosts to meet together with other passionate hosts around the country and share best practices. Calls are centered loosely around a specific theme, with time for Q+A and discussion. The next call will be in November around the theme of personal touch.

Thank you

Thanks to your support, HerTribe continues to grow as a movement of spiritual sisterhood uplifting women, nurturing faith, and strengthening communities. Whether through a meditative drawing or painting activity, offering simple encouragement to one another as “God’s whisper,” or convening together in the presence of nature, each moment shared affirms a greater truth: that when women gather with intention, creativity, connection, and growth follow.

These precious stories are possible because of you. Your contributions make space for women to be seen, heard, and loved, and to draw closer to God. Please take a moment to enjoy some additional heartfelt reflections from HerTribe participants:

This gathering turned out to be a heartfelt and impactful experience. The four guests truly connected on a deep, heart-to-heart level. By the end, it felt as if we had all known one another for a long time.
— Kae, Mid-Hudson Valley Sunflower Tribe Host
Our Mid-Hudson Sunflower HerTribe Meeting, led by Linda Shapiro-Zochol, is becoming a place where both members and guests feel free to share honestly what is really on their hearts. Linda’s heart and leadership has laid this foundation. Personally I feel very comfortable in these meetings. We truly come together as sisters, listening to and supporting one another, and growing together on the foundation of Mother Han’s words
— Alexa, Mid-Hudson HerTribe member
“I strongly felt that this gathering reflected our vision well, creating a safe, supportive space for women in their journey to discover their unique value and ignite transformations for peace. When one woman shared, others felt understood, as it was just what she was also feeling all along. We lifted each other up through reading passages from Mother Han’s words, sisters’ personal stories, and practical advice.

I left that evening feeling closer to my sisters, deeply inspired, and grateful for the sense of equality and authenticity that Katarina brought into the room. There was no formality that I often feel with male leader figures. This was just genuine sisterhood and love. It gave me hope and a renewed commitment to creating more of these spaces where women can truly thrive and continue strong on their journey raising families and our future leaders.
