Tinuade Akinshola
Tinuade (Tinu) Akinshola is a licensed attorney with extensive years of corporate transactional and policy experience. She is a human/gender rights advocate, as well as a Certified Social Entrepreneur Professional (SEP) and currently works as Acquisition Planning & Contract Compliance Specialist, Supply Chain Management Department, Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA). She began her gender justice and equity advocacy as a Victims’ Advocate and Court Companion of Family Crisis Center of Prince George’s County, Brentwood, Maryland (Now Community Resource Center), an organization that provides crisis intervention services and emergency shelter for victims (women) of domestic abuse and their children.
Tinu also double functioned as the agency’s interim Director of Residential Services prior to transitioning to another organization. She later worked as the Program Coordinator of the District of Columbia’s Advisory Committee on Child Abuse and Neglect through, DC Children’s Trust Fund, a local area non-profit organization that utilized U.S. Victims of Crime, as well as Annie E. Cassie Foundation funds in the fight for the elimination of child abuse and neglect.
Tinu continues to initiate, organize, coordinate, advocate, counsel, defend, support, mentor and moderate various programs, projects, seminars, workshops with positive effect on the female gender’s economic, education, leadership, entrepreneurship, legal, political, health, safety, and security wellbeing. This led to the formation of She Rises Int’l, Inc., an organization that proactively advocate for gender justice and equity in the U.S.A. and in developing world. She served as the Chair for the Legal Sector of the African Union’s former Pan African Diaspora Women Association (PADWA) under the Leadership of Her Excellency Arikhana Chihombori-Quao, former African Union’sAmbassador to the United States.
Tinu served as a Commissioner for Consumer ProtectionBoard, Montgomery County, Maryland. She was an Executive Board Member of African Diaspora Development Initiative (ADDI). Tinu currently serve on Montgomery County’s Citizen Review Panel for Children; the current Vice President of the Nigerian American Lawyers Association (NALA); Policy Analyst/Advocate – Yoruba Nation Global Directorate, a Yoruba community advocacy group; and Legal Analyst – Yoruba Gbode, a Yoruba community radio/internet program.
She currently serves as a Board Commissioner for Montgomery County’s Citizens Review Panel for Children. Her past Commission service was for Consumer Protection Board, Montgomery County. In March 2025, Restore TFI, a non-profit organization that supports women/children in Maryland presented a Humanitarian Award to Tinu Akinshola.
United States Institute of Diplomacy and Human Rights certified Tinu Akinshola as a Professional Certified Consultants on Human Rights, Human Trafficking, as well as on issues Protecting the Rights of Children in Humanitarian Situations. In June 2026, Tinu received an Ambassador for peace award from Universal Peace Federation. As such, she continues to support and collaborate with various agencies and organizations that represent, assist, and advocate for female, youth, children, and less privileged rights for social equity and justice. She is married and blessed with two amazing children. Her hobbies include singing, cooking, book editing and dancing.
