WFWP DC - Networking Event

Some members of WFWP DC recently had the privilege of attending the “United for Human Rights” conference, organized by the U.S. Institute of Diplomacy for Human Rights (USIDHR) and Youth for Human Rights International (YHRI). The two-day event offered informative sessions, hands-on advocacy training, and unique opportunities to connect with like-minded individuals committed to promoting human rights.

Day 1 – February 27:
The conference began at the Cannon Office Building, where participants attended a panel of distinguished speakers, followed by a dynamic Q&A session. In the afternoon, attendees toured the U.S. Capitol, an inspiring experience that provided a deeper appreciation for the nation’s legislative history. For some members, this was their first time inside the Capitol, despite prior work experience at the Library of Congress, which is conveniently located across the street.

Day 2 – February 28:
The second day focused on advocacy awareness training at the Church of Scientology building, just a few blocks from the White House. After lunch, participants received certificates recognizing their completion of the program and joined a 15-minute Walk for Human Rights to the White House, demonstrating their commitment to advancing human rights initiatives.

Overall, the conference proved to be a meaningful and impactful experience. Attendees left inspired, with new knowledge, connections, and tools to continue advocating for human rights in their communities.
