Members and guests of WFWP in Upstate New York enjoyed a healing retreat during a weekend this past June. The name of our retreat was "Healing Ourselves, Healing Our World," and was all about nurturing ourselves, learning to breathe, learning to relax, learning to be in the moment, and a lot of healing.

Thirty-three women came, five of whom were guests of WFWP. The retreat included three main presentations. One of the presentations was given by a lady who gave Reiki attunement to everybody. A local lady, who was somewhat of a psychic, spoke on building our intuition. She then gave a group reading, which was fascinating and empowering. For another activity, one sister had everybody do vision boards. Another local woman showed us a type of dancing yoga she created that is designed to help women get aligned with their chakras to access the divine feminine. It was really wonderful to dance to. We tried to include a lot of dancing at the retreat, and it made a big difference. After dinner, we had fun doing an hour of free-style dancing to a play list. Later that night, we had a candlelight labyrinth walk, which we clinched with a big bonfire and s'mores, singing, and talking.

A lot of the retreat was about breathing and calming ourselves, and nurturing ourselves and healing relationships in our lives through forgiveness. Different techniques were explained to us, including Ho-oponopono (ho-o-pono-pono), which is an ancient Hawaiian practice of reconciliation and forgiveness. After our main presentations, we each talked about our own personal lives and shared our experiences of breakthroughs, and then applied that to how we can all relax, let go, and allow God to work in our lives.

On Sunday morning, following the final presentation, we ended the retreat by breaking up into small groups to share what we had gained. A lot of good things came out of the weekend, and when people returned home, one woman said she felt like a different person. I came home, sat under my maple tree, and wrote a poem for the first time in my life. Another woman said she began writing a book on the way home from the retreat. We even started a small group doing Reiki here, and as a result of all being tuned to Reiki, we all enjoyed feeling a beautiful heavenly-sisterly spiritual vibration.

Since everybody liked the retreat, and said that we should have it again, we will try to do another one next spring!
