On Saturday, September 26, 2015, WFWP Las Vegas held its second Parenting Seminar entitled: “Building Trust in the Family” at the Haven Street sanctuary. Eighteen single and married people attended, including three who received Child Care Education service hours for participating.

Mrs. Mary Hida gave an Introduction to Women’s Federation for World Peace followed by a PowerPoint presentation, given by Mrs. Leslie Rigney, on the value of the family from the philosophy of WFWP Co-Founders Rev. Dr. Sun Myung Moon and Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon.

The wonderful presenter, Mrs. Karen Ryce from Happy Kids Co., gave a very knowledgeable and heartfelt presentation on the value of building trust in the family and the steps involved in doing so. She emphasized that in order to build trust, each person’s needs and feelings need to be considered and solutions need to be found where each person agrees that their needs have been taken into consideration and met. She outlined the steps involved in doing this. Of special value was her guidance for making change within ourselves so that, rather than repeating what we may have learned in your family of origin, we can adopt new and more effective skills for creating harmony within your present families. Central to her teaching are the ‘Seven Steps to Create Harmony in the Family.” She also spoke about the 2-year-old’s need to realize important growth lessons and how we can help or hinder their growth.

This teaching has been Karen’s life work. At this stage in her life, she is eager to find people who can learn the teaching and pass it along to others. She taught a ‘Break Out’ session in the 23rd WFWP National Assembly in Washington, DC entitled: “7 Simple Steps to Harmony: Empowering the Parent-Child Relationship.”

Next month, the Las Vegas Chapter of WFWP will continue this series of workshops taught by Karen Ryce offering important lessons on how to create Harmonious Families! Participants have already reported positive changes in their families as a result of incorporating what they have learned from Karen’s workshops into their family's daily experience.
