FOOD AND FRIENDSHIP IN ARIZONA

WFWP members Melanie and Blandine Taylor organized an "International Flavors" event on January 19 at the Peace Embassy in Tempe, Arizona.

The idea of International Flavors was for women of different nationalities to introduce their country's favorite dish(es). Many of the 45 participants shared their exotic and wonderful food, including the recipes, and it was a huge success. Many of the dishes gave us a good taste from countries such as the Philippines, the USA, Uganda, Nigeria, Suriname, Mexico, Japan, Korea, and England. After we all shared our food, each person offered a story or dance about her national dish.

Chairwoman Glenda Lambert and Melanie Taylor shared the vision of WFWP and the meaning of creating a "culture of heart" by sharing our food and stories with each other.

At the end of the evening many new friends were interested in finding out more about WFWP. One of our WFWP members started a "mommy meeting" on Wednesday evenings to introduce and share more about WFWP activities with her friends. We are also readying PowerPoint-based "Fresh Start" lectures to introduce the vision, mission, and activities of WFWP for new friends who want to become members.
