Veteran’s Drumming Activity
Tripler Army Medical Center – Community Living Center (CLC)
Friday, February 27, 2026 | 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon
Representatives from the Women’s Federation for World Peace (WFWP) Hawaiʻi Chapter, including Marie Francoise Mitchell, Sharon Beasley-Teague, and Donna Shaver—who also serve as members of the AMVETS Hawaiʻi Ladies Auxiliary 0001—joined Dana Weber in volunteering for the Veterans’ Drumming Activity at the Tripler Community Living Center.
The Community Living Center’s psychologist gathered five veterans along with several staff members to participate in this engaging therapeutic program. Participants selected their preferred percussion instruments and expressed themselves freely, drumming along to music from the 1950s through the 1970s.
Drumming therapy supports healing of the body, mind, and emotions. It helps reduce stress and anxiety by promoting relaxation and mindfulness, while also providing a healthy outlet for releasing suppressed feelings. In addition, the activity fosters social connection and strengthens relationships, creating a sense of community and shared enjoyment among participants.

Girls’ Day Celebration – Hinamatsuri
Sunday Service | March 8, 2026
WFWP supported the FFWPU Blessed families—including girls, teenagers, mothers, and women—during a Girls’ Day celebration, “Hinamatsuri,” held as part of the Sunday Service on March 8, 2026.
Donna Shaver presented a special poem inspired by WFWP member Elizabeth Lim, titled For Girls – A Poem of Life, honoring the value and beauty of girls and women. As a note of respect, many traditions recognize symbolic expressions such as Mother Moon and Father Moon, reflecting the harmony of strength and gentleness. On Girls’ Day, participants celebrated the divine design within every girl as an expression of sacred balance and living light.
The poem was printed in both English and Japanese, laminated, and included in a snack pack gifted to each woman in attendance. Packets of Animal Crackers were distributed to all children. Following the presentation, the Blessed children—beautifully dressed in traditional Japanese attire—performed a special dance they had prepared over several weeks. The room was filled with joy as families watched the children sing and dance, creating a warm and memorable celebration for all.
