September - Self-care Isn’t Selfish

Written by : Myrna Lapres

On September 20, our Self-Care Isn’t Selfish community gathered for another inspiring evening. MC Kendra Stein began the program by introducing our core group of coaches, trained by Hilde Wiemann, Generational Healing, and also active members of WFWP. Together, we feel called to combine our healing work with the WFWP vision—women working together to establish a culture of heart in the family, community, nation, and world, in order to achieve genuine and sustainable peace under God. Over the past months, many participants have returned regularly, and it has been beautiful to see a supportive community grow.

This month’s presenter, Myrna Lapres, spoke on the theme “Finding and Becoming Wise Women and Men.” She introduced Greg Baer’s Real Love concepts, which emphasize that real love is unconditional love. Myrna shared that discovering and offering this kind of love begins with a choice—deciding to take off the “masks” we wear, tell the truth about ourselves, and allow ourselves to be loved as we really are.

She defined a wise person as someone who, in any given moment, feels loved and loving enough to accept and love another person unconditionally. Drawing from her own experiences, Myrna modeled what it looks like to be truthful about our mistakes and fears while still embracing growth.

One of the most impactful parts of the program was the breakout sessions, where participants practiced sharing openly about their worries, fears, and challenges. Many found it transformative to be truly heard, accepted, and loved without judgment.

To continue this journey, Myrna encouraged participants to explore one of Greg Baer’s books (Real Love, Real Love in Marriage, or Real Love in Parenting) and to consider forming small groups to read a chapter together and share authentically.
