Hudson Valley: Bridge of Peace
Written by : Charlotte Kiluba & Kae Iwamoto
On June 8, 2025, community members gathered for a deeply moving Bridge of Peace ceremony, an event designed to foster reconciliation, healing, and unity. With 57 participants in attendance—including 10 guests—the atmosphere was filled with warmth, sincerity, and hope.
At the heart of the program were representative couples who crossed a symbolic bridge together, demonstrating the power of forgiveness and the courage to build new beginnings. This simple yet profound act served as a visual and emotional reminder of the event’s core purpose: bringing people together across divides.
The gathering was more than just symbolic. It was a genuine opportunity for attendees to connect, share, and reflect. A stirring musical performance added a deeply emotional and uplifting touch, enhancing the sense of togetherness and mutual understanding.
The Bridge of Peace ceremony accomplished its mission of promoting harmony and deeper understanding within the community. Participants left feeling inspired and encouraged to continue building bridges in their own lives.
While the event was a heartfelt success, the modest guest turnout highlighted a valuable lesson: the need for strengthened outreach and witnessing efforts. Looking ahead, there is great potential to broaden the impact of future programs by inviting more members of the wider community to participate in this transformative experience.
