WFWP AZ Honors Vice Mayor Doreen Garlid with HerStory Award for Trailblazing Leadership

On Friday, January 24, 2025, the Women’s Federation for World Peace (WFWP) Arizona Chapter proudly presented the HerStory Award to Vice Mayor Doreen Garlid at a special ceremony held at the Peace Embassy in Tempe, Arizona. This distinguished award recognizes outstanding women who have made significant contributions to their communities through leadership, service, and a commitment to peace.

Vice Mayor Garlid, the first Native American woman elected to the Tempe City Council, was honored for her tireless advocacy for inclusivity, sustainability, and the well-being of the community. Throughout her public service career, she has championed initiatives in affordable housing, youth engagement, and environmental responsibility, helping to shape Tempe into a vibrant, equitable city for all its residents.
