WFWP Northern California- Schools Of Africa

Our chapter held its annual fundraising event on November 23, 2025, featuring a heartfelt sermon by Myrna Lapres, who shared about her recent trip to Rwanda with a small group of WFWP members. Her stories highlighted both the challenges of Rwanda’s past and the hope that New Hope Technical School (NHTI) is bringing to its students and graduates.

Following the service, members of the community and WFWP offered donations. Continuing a tradition started a few years ago, our members contributed homemade baked goods, and donors giving $25 or more received a thank-you gift of a pie, quiche, or other homemade item.

This year, all funds raised were directed to two essential projects in Rwanda, identified by Georgette Umubyeyi, WFWP Rwanda President:

  1. Enhanced Lunch Support for NHTI Students

    • Providing more nutritious and balanced meals (including tea with milk, vegetables, and meat) for students whose school meal may be their primary daily food, helping them stay healthier and motivated in their studies.

  2. Advanced Technical Training Specialists

    • Hiring experts to provide specialized training, improving graduates’ employment prospects and supporting their future success.

Our fundraising goal was $7,700, and thanks to donations collected during the event and through our online donation page (Nov. 1 – Dec. 15, 2025), we are proud to share that we met and surpassed this goal!

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed—your generosity is making a lasting impact in the lives of students in Rwanda.
