Women are the Missing Piece in Peacebuilding

It’s hard to believe it has been 10 months since my appointment as President of WFWP USA. I am grateful for the amazing network of women we have supporting the great work of our organization! Perhaps my major takeaway from this year echoes a message we often hear from our founder, Mother Moon, “Women have the magical power to create harmony and soften hearts.”

At the end of our Bridge of Peace Ceremony in October in New Jersey, one gentleman sitting next to me remarked, “I could never see men doing this.” I thought his comment was spot on! If we can honor the unique value of men and women, there should be no competition between the two. Research consistently shows that when women actively participate in conflict resolution, the chances of achieving long-lasting stability significantly increase. As we navigate the complexities of our time, it is clear that our peacebuilding efforts are incomplete. Something is missing. And it is my belief that the woman’s touch could be the missing piece in such efforts.

We’ve done so much this year to amplify the woman’s role in peacebuilding that I’m proud of, such as:

  • Revitalizing WFWP’s Bridge of Peace: Featuring a new educational component for all bridge crossers on Mother Moon’s peace philosophy for reconciliation

  • Launching Wholehearted: A brand new educational series focusing on discovering the essence of womanhood through the “Mother of Peace” memoir

  • Ushering in a New Wave of Next Gen. Leadership: Over 40 “next generation” women are now active in WFWP and are developing fresh and exciting ideas

Our 2023 achievements are just the beginning and momentum is building for an even more exciting year in 2024 with an emphasis on building local small groups to support women and projects to bring together women leaders and address the needs of our communities.

Thank you for your continued support and advocacy for WFWP USA. We can’t do what we do without you! As we get ready to close 2023, I invite you to consider making an extra donation during this giving season. Your donation will go a long way to securing an even more impactful 2024!
