After a successful interfaith forum in October 2019, WFWP Arizona held its second Interfaith Dialogue on Saturday, February 15, 2020 at Udall Community Center in Tucson, Arizona. Participants included passionate women of faiths representing Islam, Baha’i, Sikhism, Christianity and the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification.

Inhaa Nambula was an outstanding emcee and facilitator, and she warmly welcomed everyone to the interfaith program with her youthful energy.

Mrs. Mina Calik, representing Islam, spoke about the SEMA Foundation, a non-profit organization she founded with the purpose of building bridges in the community and a focus on charity, education, outreach and culture. She shared the story of how she started this foundation to bring peace to her community by sharing kindness and compassion. Among other activities, the cultural programs that they organize bring people from all walks of life together and help them form bonds over delicious food and music.

The second speaker was Rhia Luz, WFWP Arizona chairwoman, who had driven almost two hours to join the event. She introduced the mission of WFWP and shared about the vision of the founders. In particular, her message focused on the leadership of Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon and her passion to build God’s Kingdom of Heaven on earth.

“This gives us hope, especially as women, and how our unity with her vision can help realize God’s dream and in the process can realize ours too,” shared Rhia.

The participants then enjoyed an animated discussion while sharing delicious snacks, coffee and tea.

WFWP Arizona is grateful for the initiative of Kati Brisebois as a local representative in Tucson for putting together this event, with the support of her husband Mike Brisebois. We would also like to thank Beverly Tidwell, Kate Pugnoli, Nancy Beloit and Inhaa Nambula for organizing all the details together.

The participants are excited to meet again and keep the momentum going, possibly with a Bridge of Peace ceremony in the near future. WFWP Arizona is also preparing for a major Global Women’s Peace Network conference on April 18, 2020. Find out more here.
