CHICKEN SOUP FOR WFWP
On Saturday May 21, 2016, the Women’s Federation for World Peace DC chapter celebrated Mother’s Day with the theme “The Role of Mothers in the New Era for Sustainable Peace.” The program was held at the Washington Times Beech Room.
The guest speaker, Mr. Al Cole from CBS Radio syndicated Talk Show “Peoples of Distinction” and author of a short story in “Chicken Soup for the Soul: Angels Among Us,” spoke about the importance of women, and especially mothers. His speech inspired courage, confidence, and respect for all mothers and for all those expressing parental heart in their lives for the sake of others. It was an interactive program where he engaged the audience. In his conclusion he challenged us mothers to go beyond our normal concept and pray for someone we don’t know, a person we have never met or heard of, to just make up a name and pray for that person.
Before the guest speaker spoke, Angelika Selle, president of WFWP USA and international vice president of WFWP International, gave an outstanding introduction to WFWP. She especially emphasized the life and personality of WFWP’s Founder, Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon. Mrs. Kim Dadachanji, WFWP Maryland chairwoman welcomed everyone as emcee with a warm heart and smile. There was moving entertainment by Mr. Otmar Weinmann who sang two songs; one was a song he wrote for his mother. Ms. Meauvell Tate, ProMo-Love homeschool teacher, offered two songs including a song made famous by Bette Midler, called 'The Rose.’

Elizabeth Aihe, WFWP DC chairwoman recited the poem she wrote for her mother and Mother Moon, called “Mother of Mine.” She dedicated the poem on that day to all the ladies in the audience. Before her closing remarks, Elizabeth announced that the WFWP DC chapter will be collecting essential items for the Purse Drive and items will be donated to a domestic violence shelter in DC. We are so grateful to Misako Connery who donated boxes of essential items--including bath gel, shampoo, and toothpaste--for the shelter.
The audience was made up of a diverse group of attendees including both American and international WFWP members and their guests. Each presenter and the attendees shared intelligence with warm hearts.
The impressive and elegant Washington Times Beech Room was a perfect venue for this event, with beautiful fresh roses on every table and a lovely buffet of light refreshments. We look forward to many more of these excellent events, both well-planned and well-attended with many more very inspired people, both long-term and new, joining us for fulfilling projects, activities and Blessings!
