WFWP PRESIDENT'S VISIT TO THE NORTHWEST
Angelika Selle, the President of WFWP visited Seattle, the weekend of November 4th on her return trip from Korea. It was her first time to speak to our Northwest WFWP members here.
She brought with her an atmosphere of Spring to the chilly November weekend, bringing lots of inspirational stories of all that is developing in WFWP; the new Abstinence program, Clean Slate, that anyone can implement in their area, among others, and how the second generation is taking the lead in many instances. Also, she spoke about the importance of expanding media coverage of our events and activities, to let the light shine on all of the unsung activities WFWP has been doing for years. Angelika told about the success of the 19th Annual Women's Assembly in New York City, August 4-9th, this year called "We" which focused on relationships, and about all the speakers that came to her, wanting to be a part of the event, rather than WFWP having to seek them out. In fact, they had more speakers than they had spots for. People are recognizing that WFWP is very special and that is because of the spiritual root of its founder, True Mother.
Angelika spoke of all the relationships we needed to bridge, between rich and poor, between husbands and wives, between races, between our members and more. She encouraged us to take ownership of WFWP developing it in the way that is our passion. She also challenged us to bring people to the Original Substance of the Divine Principle Meetings to fulfill the urgent goal of 3000 attendees by the end of the year and also to have a fundraiser for the Schools of Africa by year end and increase our membership.
Also on the agenda, was the need for a new leader for WFWP in Washington State. Friederike Buczyk has served as the WFWP Chairwoman in Washington State for the last four years. We thanked Friederike for all of the success she had brought, in a great variety of events and service projects, which are fond memories. Especially, we appreciate her for taking on the responsibility of being the WFWP Chairwoman and for all of the heart she put into it!
New leaders were voted on. Keiko Sylte will be our new WFWP Chairwoman and Sarah Nishioka will be her assistant. We were grateful for Angelika's visit and how she reignited our desire to invest ourselves more in the important work of WFWP.
