The Northern California Chapter of WFWP had the wonderful blessing of hosting our national President, Angelika Selle the first weekend of October. Her power point presentations and inspired sharing uplifted our WFWP members and guests throughout the various event s of the weekend.

On Saturday, Mrs. Selle, along with chapter chairwoman Pat Fleischman, met with three very dynamic and motivated women, Mrs. Stephanie Mann, Dr. Barbara Williams, and Dr. Lakita Long. The women shared about the work they have been doing to build up community and relationships in neighborhoods in order to fight crime as well as other projects. Mrs. Selle inspired them with the vision of the 20th Anniversary celebration for WFWP in Las Angeles next year. There was a real heart connection of women motivated to work for improving their communities and the world.

Saturday evening we had a wonderful potluck dinner at the home of a WFWP member which is situated high on a hill with a spectacular view of the SF Bay. The beautiful view contributed to an atmosphere of love and the feeling of God's presence during the evening. Around 25 women of very diverse backgrounds came together to welcome Mrs Selle who gave an overview of the activities of WFWP in the past year or so and introduced that plans for the 20th Anniversary celebration next year. Her warmth and passion for WFWP was very moving and infectious. Through her presentation the new paradigm of WFWP became clearer– that it is no longer the time for us to just receive direction from our leaders but that each woman or group of women can be empowered to use their unique situations and talents and do something to bring positive change to their circle of influence or communities.

On Sunday, we held another meeting for WFWP members and guests in the afternoon after our Benefit for the Schools of Africa. Around 50 women attended this gathering which was similar to the gathering on Saturday evening in that Angelika gave an overview of WFWP activities and also spoke about the 20th Anniversary celebration that is being planned for next year. In addition, she gave a presentation called Tune In to Tune Up that focused on the importance of developing our spiritual lives and relationship with God in order to be the best women we can be and accomplish great things. This presentation was very profound and much appreciated by all of the women.

After the general meeting, eight women who are committed to working with WFWP met with Angelika in a coffee shop for more personal sharing. This group included three young women who just recently started working with WFWP. They have started a monthly program entitled LIFE Spa (see separate report) and were very inspired by this more personal sharing from Angelika about how WFWP is organized and the kinds of situations she deals with in her position.
