Beauty Inside Out

We were blessed to have our wonderful Assistant WFWP Chairwoman and Board of Director, Sammi Vanderstock give a presentation on, "Beauty within and without". Everyone enjoyed her knowledgeable presentation and demonstration. We all felt more beautiful and had more tips on ramping up the Beauty factor after hearing Sammi's practical and insightful tips. There was much joy and laughter also. Our chapter members are all so grateful and inspired by Sammi who is such an exemplary young lady. We are blessed to have her with us while she studies at Marist College nearby. Just a heads up for our March WFWP meeting: we will be meeting on a Thursday, March 8th, from 6 to 8 o'clock at my house, 48 Garden St, Red Hook, NY 12571. I will give a short WFWP report and then Michiko Presky will give a report on the recent Kodan Leader's meeting. She will share a report of some of the latest providential news. No potluck this time, come as you are. Share a warm, informative and inspiring evening with us. Good news for our April WFWP meeting! Laura Brooks will come to share her expertise knowledge on medicare and how to prepare for retirement. I will let you know the date and time at a later date. God richly bless you all as we strive to live each day with sincere devotion!

I would like to welcome all the beautiful women from all walks of life sitting in the audience, and of course welcome all the husbands, brothers, and sons who are here supporting us. I would like to give special thanks to Rev. In Jin Moon, the second daughter of the Founder of Women's Federation for World Peace International, Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon, whom I met back in March of this year in Las Vegas. We instantly connected, as we seemed to share so much in common, a strong feeling of kinship and sisterhood. She has a pure heart, and is beautiful and powerful inside and out. To President Angelika Selle, such a tenacious and amazing woman making a difference in the world, you also deeply touch my soul. And to Nasser Zomorod and his wife Ulli Zomorod, who introduced me to Angelika and Rev. In Jin Moon and have been great friends and supporters of our humanitarian and philanthropic work through our charitable foundation. I would also like to give a special thanks to my mother, because she is the role model I had as a woman--giving, kind, strong, and very outspoken--and thanks to God for leading me in my spiritual journey.   I’d like to open with a short poem I wrote specially for today’s historic event.   HUMANITY   When everyone goes to sleep and the moon and stars are out I look through a telescope to the universe and I think under the sky... Why do we have hungry children in the world? Who created nursery homes? Why everyone follows a system? Do people have an independent mind?   Why people don't smile anymore? Why are they not happy? Why are they so lonely? Why can't we just love each other the way we are? After…

On June 24th, I attended the Miss Colorado Scholarship Pageant held at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House in downtown Denver. My young friend, 15-year-old Angelika Buczynski, competed in it and did very well. During the intermission, a lady approached me and asked me to be in her event called the US Splendor Pageants. She suggested I enter the Elegant Lady division for women between 60-70 years of age. At 64, I was excited, scared and affronted all at once. For five days I toyed with the idea, telling myself my health would not allow me to do it, how would I pay the $225 fee, buy a gown, sportswear, have a photo shoot done, hair, the whole ball of wax. Then I got the idea to find a sponsor. Since I had been working with my chiropractor for over a year, I decided to ask. Once I made that decision, it seemed a red plush carpet rolled out in front of me and everything was being given to me on a golden platter. The response was an overwhelming "YES – What do you need? What else do you need?" They not only paid my fee, they bought my gown, sportswear, shoes and jewelry. I did my own hair, makeup and photo shoot. I got a cd at the library – "How to Become a Model." I watched and studied it and practiced walking up and down the short hallway in my home. My posture had improved with much chiropractic care from an injury I received in a serious car accident when I was 18. There was no rehearsal and I could not attend the only meeting the contestants had several weeks before the pageant. So, on August 27th, I drove to the Denver Marriott Tech Center Hotel with my son,…
