WFWP NEWARK CELEBRATES MOTHERS FOR BEING CHAMPIONS OF PEACE
On the morning of Saturday May 12, Newark, NJ Satellite Chairwoman Marisa Bell collaborated with the Mantena Brazilian Community center to honor and thank mothers with a breakfast buffet. Marisa gave an address about the importance of our vision focused on Leadership of the Heart, and quoted WFWP Founder Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon. She had prepared a gift and a red rose for all the mothers. We had a good time mingling and making new friends.
Reflection from Newark, NJ Satellite Chairwoman Marisa Bell:
I have been volunteering at Mantena Global Care for about four years. It's a nonprofit organization which helps immigrants in the Ironbound or East Ward neighborhoods of Newark, mostly dealing with Brazilians, but sometimes Portuguese or Latino people, too. Mantena's leader, Solange Paizante, is open-minded, caring, and loving. She has a sincere mother's heart, and people feel that in her smile. Solange didn't ask many questions when I invited her to partner with WFWP, and she offered me a room for meetings, on a monthly basis.
She also welcomed the idea of having the Mother's Day Breakfast together, because she already hosts the event annually, on the Saturday before Mother's Day, mostly for the mothers dropping their children off for Portuguese classes. Unfortunately, many of my guests didn't show up, but I have learned from my mother-in-law that we're supposed to be grateful for the ones who do show up. I spoke a little about a mother's mission to not just care for the children, but also try to improve herself to lead her children to an even better future. I encouraged the mothers in the audience to get the children to read instead of playing with computers, phones, and video games all the time. The message that WFWP Founder Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon has spread is about women leading the world to peace in the twenty-first century, and a crucial part of that is how we raise our children.
