On March 17, more than 40 people gathered to participate in LA's monthly meeting. The focus was on the issue of safe, clean water as a basic human right. The speakers included Charles Trevino, member of the Board of Directors of the Upper San Gabriel Valley Municipal Water District, and Mr. Ortega, an environmental engineer. "There are more problems to eliminate toxins continuously, as much of the water is reclaimed rather than coming from pure sources," Emma Reed said. "Also, the infrastructure for processing water is over 100 years old and not meant to support the large population we now have. [Mr. Ortega] predicted that the cost of water will soon be higher than the cost of cable TV for most citizens." The main speaker was Hadiara Diallo, director of…
One of our long time WFWP supporters and Ambassadors for Peace, Dr. Mary Shuttleworth, founded the Youth for Human Rights International Organization about 10 years ago.  This celebration culminated her 9th world tour of YHRI which circled the globe for a total of 27,944 miles.  During the tour Mary met with many of the countries’ government officials and dignitaries and presented the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights in schools. The celebration was attended by about 150 close friends and supporters of YHRI which included former  Congresswoman Diane Watson, numerous founders and chairmen/women of like-minded organizations, and several key members of YHRI from around the globe.   We enjoyed a light dinner, a Luau dance performance and congratulatory presentations.  The current Miss Teen Asia USA, Meeghan Tirtasaputra, graced us with a…
On January 9th and 10th, WFWP representatives were invited to Muscatel Middle School, Rosemead, CA, to present the Clean Slate abstinence program to over 100 7th grade science students. Clean Slate is a project initiated by the US Department of Health and Human Services, and is now a WFWP project under the Marriage and Family focus. It offers educational programs on healthy relationships and provides youth with the relationship and character skills to have successful marriages and families. Through its character-based "Relationship Intelligence" education, Clean Slate is reducing risks to our youths’ wellbeing from the threats of AIDS, STD’s, teen pregnancy, drug/alcohol use and teen violence.  Ms. Priya D'Silva conducted the presentations with the support of the classroom teacher, Mrs. Amador, who has been instrumental in helping us bring the program…
On December 18, 2011, close to 30 people came to celebrate Christmas with the Los Angeles Chapter despite everyone's busy holiday schedules. The house was filled with the aroma of apple cider and cinnamon and Christmas carols played in the background as our friends chatted and indulged in the multitude of cookies and finger foods. The meeting began with a lovely Christmas song by Rebecca Calix who was accompanied by her brother William Calix. We were also gifted with a rendition by Jerlinda Tabarejo. The emcee for the evening was Era Thompson. Southern California Chairwoman, Emma Reed, read the WFWP USA Mission Statement and a section of a speech given by the Founder, Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon, entitled "Living for the Sake of Others". The focus of this event…

Chakra and Gemstone Power

December 9th, 2011
Our monthly meeting on Nov. 20th, 2011, was entitled "Chakra and Gemstone Power". As participants braved the rain and filed into the house, they were greeted with the Jazz music of Mr. Jack Fulks. He is an excellent saxophonist and flutist. Mrs. Giene Fulks sang the Lord's Prayer while he accompanied her on the flute to open our meeting. They are both long time supporters of WFWP. Era Thompson gave a short introduction of WFWP for the benefit of the several new guests, Emma Reed introduced the presenter Caroline Wallrich and her assistant Tasha Rae. Caroline introduced us to the location of the main chakras running through the center of our body. Each chakra is a vortex considered to be the focal point for the reception and transmission of energies…
