The surprised expressions on everyone's faces as they entered the Women's Federation for World Peace coffee shop in Denver that was transformed into a beautiful tea room, were gratifying to watch. On May 26th, WFWP Denver hosted our First Annual Traditional English Tea Luncheon, an event in which guests and members of WFWP enjoyed tea and delicacies while learning about WFWP and its founder, Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon. The 36 people in attendance happily drank two carefully prepared teas, and ate delicately created sandwiches accompanied by chocolate-covered strawberries. There were 14 guests—12 women and 2 men. The men were transformed as much as the ladies. We could not stop smiling, and why should we have? Dr. Moon's life story was told, with pictures rolling on a screen in the…
When guests and members entered the WFWP Denver coffeehouse on February 18th, Chinese music was playing and small round tables with lit candles on glass plates surrounded by stones and sitting on top of bamboo liners waited to seat 18 people which included 6 guests and 4 men. They sipped on chrysanthemum tea and ate Chinese fortune cookies. Judy Jia Gallenstein and Dr. DaYong Hou were the guest speakers who approached women's health from a Chinese, traditional perspective. Ladies individually read the statement of beliefs followed by Mother Moon's life story. For one hour, Judy presented different points of health to a very alert audience while she showed a very colorful and interesting point power she created. Dr. Hou, a doctor of traditional, Chinese medicine for over 20 years, and…
On March 12th, the Colorado chapter of WFWP launched a new initiative: "Colorado Voices of Peace." This is a tri-monthly program that will allow women as well as men from all walks of life and of all races, religions and cultures to articulate their unique contributions to peace. They will be encouraged to express their personal insights and understanding of how peace can be put into practice within their personal spheres of influence. Donna Gisi, a college student as well as a full-time nurse practitioner, was our first presenter for "Colorado Voices of Peace." She is also an award winning photographer who is assembling a "Photographs of Peace" montage that she hopes will be a visual stimulation and reminder for people that a peaceful world is longed for by everyone,…

Denver Christmas Party

December 11th, 2011
One of our most devoted members of WFWP in Denver, Hisako Geschwind, reminded us of her long-time friendship with a prominent local man who works with the Volunteers of America. After two or three planning meals at McD’s and a few phone calls, we contacted this lady and decided to help Volunteers of America by helping to support a homeless shelter for 25 older women. When we called the shelter, we were told that whereas other places who protect women and children receive lots of gifts during the holidays, this particular one was ignored by the general public and that the ladies needed hats, gloves, scarves and other warm articles. We visited the shelter and were warmly greeted and given a tour of the facility. It was a big, beautiful…

Coffee House Event

December 9th, 2011
Sandi Altman Alquist, who has been teaching "A Course in Miracles" for close to 40 years, spoke to a group of 17 people at the Denver Family Church Coffee house. There were five guests, 14 women and three men. She spoke for one hour about her life and how she came to be in the possession of one of the first 12, original copies of "A Course in Miracles" and emphasized the need to let go of grudges through love and forgiveness. Over refreshments, everyone enthustically conversed for 45 minutes to an hour. Sandi mingled, counseled and sold her two books, "Illumination, A Journey in the Light" and "Revelation, A Call to Awaken". Catherine Ichinohe designed a beautiful fall arrangement with Japanese flare for Sandi. She also accepted Father's autobiography…
