President Selle explains the ‘heart’ of WFWP’s mission which serves to inspire each woman to be confident in their divinity and to be close to each other for support, friendship and inspiration(excerpts taken from Rev. Selle's inaugural speech).
She uses two analogies. The first one is Salt
SALT
- to be aware of women’s role in cleaning, upholding purity, adding taste/ flavor to life and to bring in an awareness of the Divine Femininity. It's actually holy salt. So as Jesus said, "Be the salt of the earth." So, we have to have salt and be aware, because salt also purifies. It stands for being tasty and we have to become real tasty people to attract this world, but you have to purify, purify ourselves. So we can be like a crystal that God can shine through and reach this impure world. So unless we are a part of it, it's difficult to work on that. And it’s holy salt because we need to become holy - holy women - meaning, natural women. Holy is natural, it's original. So we need to become original women.
SatinSATIN
The second analogy was of the fabric satin to describe the role WFWP ladies should focus on.
Satin is an interesting fabric. On one side it is shiny and on the other side it is matte, or dull. This is a beautiful symbol of what women can be. It's not only made of silk, it's also made of nylon and rayon. So it's a fabric of many different women coming together, of all colors, of all backgrounds, to create this beautiful fabric. And the women can then also absorb. Sometimes we need to absorb a lot to make it new. So we are shining, on one hand, and we are absorbing on the other.
S= shine & stand up
A= action. today and throughout this year
T= transformation through teaching
I= impacting, inviting others to join
N= nurturing through mentoring.
Let’s analyze the word satin a little bit more closely. Satin. The "S" stands for Shining. We need to let our light shine. Women have to let their light shine. We always put ourselves down. We don't believe in ourselves many times. But it's time to shine our gifts and talents, and our hearts.
"A" is for Action. We're going to do some action. Our leader Dr. In Jim Moon, Reverend In Jin Moon, she's already on the ball and I know she has done so many things behind the scenes that we don't even know. But she really wants to accomplish a lot for Heaven. And she is not afraid to speak up and to speak out. Today was beautiful when we heard her speech at the United Nations. That is another indicator to me what we are asked to do at this time. We are now testifying to the founders. We are now testifying to the truth that has been revealed for this age. We need to let other women know. We need to educate them and inspire them. So that's one aspect of our focus these next three years, to be masters at that, to be master educators.
And so the "T" stands actually for Teaching, educating people in the word and in family relationships, in heart. Teach of the mothers, teach of the family, also the teach of the culture. I heard an African story where the mothers have so much power. But there were two tribes at war. The mother would go, the mothers, the grandmothers in fact, of both sides, would gather in the midst of the battle and tell people to stop and they would stop. They listened to the grandmothers. So women have a lot of power with the heart. And I know, in some cases, there is no one else but a strong mother who can tell this guy, "Give me the gun," and he will. So God is giving us a lot of new spirit and power for this new age to clean up and to bring about God's reality.
So "I" stands for Imprint, the last thing imprinted. We want to make an imprint and influence the environment through example and true love. That's the imprint. Sometimes just words cannot make an impact, but our lives and that of our True Parents, and if you emulate that in our lives, then that will make an imprint of someone's heart. And In Jin Nim is already doing that too. She makes a lot of imprints on everyone. So we have that as our example.
And finally, "N" is for Nurturing, nurturing ourselves, women. That's a hard one right? We always think of everybody else except ourselves. But actually nurturing ourselves, loving our bodies, these are very precious bodies. Our health is very important and if you don't have it, we can't do anything. So nurturing ourselves, nurturing others, and nurturing the next generation. Amen? Next generation, hello? [Applause] We are working with you from now on. I really would like to work, at least 50% of the Women's Federation would like to be young women. Let's give all the young women a hand here. [Applause] I want to ask our next generation what are their concerns? What are their issues? Let's address that. And I heard already that some of the young ladies are really concerned about sex trafficking, and pornography and things like that. There's a lot to be done. So we need a lot of creativity and so forth. And to nurture or second generation to become leaders and step forward.
